World Population Day

World Population Day

World Population Day was observed at Lyallpur Khalsa College for Women, Jalandhar wherein the
students made posters to raise awareness about the issues pertaining to increasing world
population, its effects, the importance of family planning, gender equality, etc. The event was
organised by the Kalpavriksh society of the college. Dr. Navjot, Principal, Lyallpur Khalsa College
for Women, Jalandhar stated that the day is celebrated all around the world on every 11th July to
spread awareness about the global population issues and further added that the increasing
population is the main reason behind today’s increase in unemployment. Effects on environment
are also evidently visible as in order to support the growing population, forests are being destroyed
at an alarming rate. Principal Dr. Navjot appreciated Dr. Mukta Chum, Head, Department of
Environmental Studies, under whose able guidance the day was marked.
