Admissions

Admission Procedure

Application Form

Application for admission must be made on the
prescribed form attached with the prospectus. It must
be accompanied with :-

  • Eligibility Certificate
  • The University Certificate of the last University/Board examination passed.
  • Character Certificate from the Head of the Institution last attended.
  • Inter-University Migration Certificate and Detailed Marks Certificate, if the student has passed the previous examination from some other University/Broad.
  • The board/University Registration Card if the student is already registered with GNDU.

Interview

The student seeking admission must present herself personally for interview on the days fixed for admission. Candidates would be interviewed by the Principal in her office from 9.00 A.M. to 2.00 P.M. during the admission days.

Students migrating from other Universities/Boards

The students who have passed the lower examination from the University/Board other than Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar/Punjab University, Chandigarh/Punjabi University, Patiala/Punjab School
Education Board would be required to produce eligibility certificate from the Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar at the time of admission. For this
purpose they should apply beforehand to the university on prescribed application form along with the following
documents through the college office:

  • The Detailed Marks Certificate of the lower examination passed from the University/Board.
  • The Migration Certificate issued by the previous University/Board.
  • The Degree/Certificate in original issued by the University/Board.

Students migrating from Punjab University/Punjabi University

  • The student migrating from Punjab University/Punjabi University shall be required to produce the original documents at the time of admission
  • The Degree/Certificate and the Detailed Marks Card of the lower examination passed.
  • The Migration Certificate issued by the University from which they are migrating.

Note

  • Non-enclosure of documents means provisional admission at student’s own risk and responsibility. No refund of fee will be made if admission is not confirmed by the University at the later stage.
  • The students must deposit eligibility and other certificates by 31st July, otherwise, a late fee will be charged as per University schedule.
  • The student whose results are R.L. or who have taken provisional admission must submit their documents by 30th August to the college. Otherwise, a penal fee will be charged as per schedule.
  • After the scheduled dates the name will be struck off from the college rolls.

SC/BC Students

A student belonging to Scheduled Caste or Backward Class will be required to attach with her admission form a certificate from the Magistrate reflecting total annual income of her parents to avail benefit of non-payment of non-refundable charges as per Pb. Govt. Instructions. Non-production of Certificate leads to ineligibility for the exemption.

Seats in the Hostel

A separate admission form should be filled up for a seat in the hostel. Admission to the Hostel would be made on first come first serve basis.

Withdrawal from college & hostel

  • A student who wishes to withdraw her name from the college/Hostel before completion of her course, must clear her dues and submit an application duly signed by the father/guardian.A Separate application will have to be submitted for withdrawal from the hostel.
  • In case a student remains absent for seven days or is a defaulter for non-payment of dues, her name will be struck off from the college rolls at the end of the month. Such students can be readmitted with the permission of the Principal on payment of re-admission fee.

Refund of fee

No refund of fee or other charges will be made if the student does not join or leaves the hostel/college after admission.

Cancellation of admission

If the student fails to join the class within seven days or is absent for seven days or more in aggregate out of 15 days from the commencement of classes or date of admission, whichever is later, the admission of the student shall stand cancelled. In that case all fee and other amount paid shall stand forfeited and no part of it will be refunded.

Late admission

Late admission subject to the approval by the board/University may be granted at the discretion of the Principal.

  • The student whose result is declared late by the Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar or Punjab School Education Board can seek admission without late fee within 12 days including 2 transit days from the date of University/Board notification.
  • The student of other University/Board whose results of lower examinations are not declared by the time the actual admission is made, will be allowed provisional admission during normal days of admission but the result must be declared by 30th August of the year, otherwise provisional admission will stand cancelled.

Scholarships, Stipends and Concessions

  • Fee concessions are given to needy and deserving. Students are helped out of S.A.F.
  • In the case of two sisters, tuition fee is halved for the second child.
  • The government, University, military, Scheduled Caste, Backward Class and Rural Area Scholarships and stipends are tenable in the college.
  • National scholarships from Centre and State Government for poor and brilliant students are provided.
  • Special fee concession in monthly fee and annual charges will be given to meritorious students.

Note

No Concession can be taken as a matter of right. Fee concession and stipends are forfeited for bad conduct, irregular attendance and failure to take House
Examination or not fulfilling the condition of Annual Exams.

Payment of fee

Students shall have to pay their total fee in the three quarters :

  • First quarter at the time of admission.
  • Fee for the second quarter in the Month of October along with University Examination Fee.
  • Fee for the third quarter will be taken in the month of January.
  • The Principal reserves the right to a uniform fund for meeting expenditure for unforeseen developments of the college.
  • Fee once paid is non-refundable.

General rules and regulations

ATTENDANCE

It is mandatory for the students to attend 75% of the lectures delivered both in theory and practical classes. Fine will be imposed for the absence without leave from the college.
