NSS

NSS(National Service Scheme)

National Service Scheme is the voluntary association of young people in colleges, universities and at +2 levels working for campus community linkage. The NSS aims at upliftment of the society and extending a helping hand to the society. It is organized by students themselves & both students and teachers through their combined participation in community service, get a sense of involvement in the tasks of nation building.

The main objectives of National Service Scheme (NSS) are

  • understand the community in which they work
  • understand themselves in relation to their community
  • identify the needs and problems of the community and involve them in problem-solving
  • develop among themselves a sense of social and civic responsibility
  • utilize their knowledge in finding practical solutions to individual and community problems
  • develop competence required for group-living and sharing of responsibilities
  • gain skills in mobilizing community participation
  • acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitudes
  • develop capacity to meet emergencies and natural disasters and
  • practice national integration and social harmony

The volunteers are involved in activities like

  • Cleanliness Drive
  • Awareness rallies against various social issues like
    • Female feticide
    • Dowry system
    • Drug menace
  • Blood donation camps
  • Seminars on traffic rules and road safety
  • Various health check-up camps like HB detection, blood group detection.
  • Seminars on
  • Women safety
  • Breast cancer
  • Polycystic ovarian syndrome
  • Skin care by VLCC

Highlights

The activities are so planned to inculcate the feeling of oneness amongst students and provide service to society without biasness. We tend to make the students understand themselves in relation to the community; acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitude. Last but not the least the volunteers develop the sense of social and civic responsibilities.
